        Producer Information

Azienda Agricola Monte del Frà is a wine producer based between the villages of Sommacampagna and Custoza near Verona, in the west of the Veneto region in northern Italy. The estate produces a full range of the most renowned Veneto wines, including Custoza, Bardolino and Valpolicella. Grappa and olive oil is also produced. Monte del Frà has a history dating back to 1492, when the winery was owned by monks of the Santa Maria della Scala order in Verona. The modern form of the company was founded in 1958 and today is owned by the Bonomo family. Today it owns 137 hectares of vineyards and rents a further 68 (339 and 168 acres). The vineyards in the southeast area of Lake Garda benefit from the terroir of rolling morainic hills. Several rivers, as well as the lake itself, moderate the climate and help deliver wines with great freshness and minerality. Custoza and Custoza Superiore DOC white wines are made from Garganega, Trebbianello, Trebbiano Toscano and Cortese. Other white DOC wines are Lugana and Soave. Several cuvées of Bardolino DOC red wine, plus a Bardolino Chiaretto rosé, all made from the classic trio classic trio of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, form an important part of the range. In addition a number of Veronese IGT wines are made; a white Garganega, red Corvina and a rosé from Corvina, Rondinella and Merlot. The selection of sparkling wines comprises Custoza and Bardolino Chiaretto spumanti, plus a Veronese IGT frizzante. There is also a passito Veneto IGT dessert wine. Le Undici Terre is a selection of white, rosé and red wines for more casual drinking. The name refers to the 11 vineyards of Monte del Frà between Lake Garda and Valpolicella.
