Bruichladdich Octomore 10.1 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Octomore 10.1 is the first of four releases in the tenth edition of this heavily peated line from Bruichladdich. This tenth edition is lighter on the smoke compared to previous releases, peated to just 107ppm. Distilled from Concerto barley sourced from Scotland this single malt is matured fully in first-fill American oak whiskey barrels from Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace, and Jack Daniel's. Bottled at 59.8% ABV.

Bruichladdich Octomore 10.1 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Wisps of smoky iodine, leather, polish, Nutella, ginger syrup, walnuts and orange peels

Palate: The balance of smoke, oak and fruit is different from other Octomores, as the phenols naturally fade with age the fabulous casks develop a strong hold on the spirit, salted caramel, marzipan vanilla and crusty malty bread.

Finish: As ever the dry peat smoke will be the last flavour to remain reminiscent of pipe tobacco ash and peat tea, an island delicacy of tea brewed over a peat fire while gathering peats on the moss.

Distillery Information

Bruichladdich Distillery is a distillery on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay in Scotland. The distillery produces mainly single malt Scotch whisky, but has also offered artisanal gin. It is owned by Rémy Cointreau and is one of eight working distilleries on the island.
