A wonderfully balanced expression from the core Caol Ila range, this 18 year old is malty and thick with notes of Caol Ila smoke and phenols, a lovely Islay single malt without extreme levels of peat. Caol Ila takes its name from the Gaelic for ' sound of Islay'. In 1879 the pier was buuilt to allow 'puffers' to load and unload cargo.

Nose: Damp cut grass, herb garden, the remnants of a bonfire on a beach.
Palate: A walk by the sea bringing mild, sweet oaky notes and a pocketful of parma violets.
Finish: Long and floral with some charred oak.

Built in 1846, Caol Ila is the largest of the eight working distilleries on the island of Islay (situated off the west coast of Scotland), with a production capacity of 3 million litres per year.
