Nose: Intensely herbal, with fresh mint, pine, anise, peppery spice, earthy roots, and subtle floral notes.

Palate: Powerful and complex, showing mint, anise, gentian, génépi, peppery herbs, dark botanical sweetness, and a dry spicy edge.

Finish: Long and lingering, with fresh mint, leafy herbs, earthy spice, and a gently bitter botanical character.

Distillery Information

Chartreuse is produced according to the centuries-old tradition of the Carthusian monks, whose history with the famous herbal elixir began in 1605 when a manuscript containing a recipe based on 130 plants was entrusted to the order. Their work eventually led to the Élixir Végétal de la Grande-Chartreuse in 1764 and, later, Green Chartreuse in 1840. The secret botanical recipe remains known only to the Carthusian Fathers, who continue to oversee the production and preserve the distinctive identity of the Chartreuse liqueurs. The 1605 expression was first created in 2005 as a commemorative cuvée marking four centuries of this tradition.
