Kilchoman 100% Islay 3rd Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The eagerly awaited third release of Kilchoman's 100% Islay and it hasn't proved to be the third difficult album. The barley is grown, malted, distilled, matured and bottled at the distillery. The whisky has been aged in a combination of fresh and refill bourbon barrels, obtained from Buffalo Trace, for over 4 years.

Kilchoman 100% Islay 3rd Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet hay with a delicate dryness that develop into farmyard-y smells with time. With even more time a lovely Custard Cream note emerges. Biscuity and sweet.

Palate: Initially dry smoke and vegetal with spicy jalapeno notes moving into black. Imagine a cactus taco with smoky chilli sauce.

Finish: Lovely citrus notes come through at the end with oranges, lemons and smoky bitter dryness. Hot stones and more jalapenos.

Distillery Information

The Kilchoman distillery (pronounced Kil-ho-man) is a distillery that produces single malt Scotch whisky on Islay, an island of the Inner Hebrides.The distillery is situated on the western side of Islay, near the small settlement of Kilchoman. The location made it the most westerly distillery in Scotland, until the Abhainn Dearg Distillery started distilling on the Isle of Lewis.
