Loimer | Brut Rose Reserve - NV

Clear, bright and decidedly pink with a fine and persistent mousse. A delicate nose of wildflowers, fresh strawberries and bay leaf is framed by gentle spice. On the palate, the wine’s floral character is supported by hints of toasted bread. The fine perlage creates a supple mouthfeel that is complimented by invigorating acidity. A wine of great tension, freshness, and finesse.

• Wine Advocate: The NV Brut Rosé Reserve offers a pure and fresh yet intensely aromatic bouquet of red berries intertwined with delicate brioche and lemon juice aromas as well as some flinty notes. Round and fruity on the palate, this is a well-balanced, very charming, finely structured and stimulating sparkling blend of the Kamptal's red grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and St. Laurent. This vinous and finessed rosé drinks perfectly well as an aperitif but has enough fruit and structure to be enjoyed with many lighter dishes based on veggies, white meat or fish. Disgorged with a dosage of just two grams per liter, this is in fact an extra brut or brut nature.

Producer Information

Loimer is an Austrian producer in the Kamptal region of Niederösterreich, in Austria. It is particularly known for its bright, vibrant Grüner Veltliner and Riesling wines, which account for more than three quarters of production. The estate also works with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rotgipfler and Zweigelt. The estate was founded in 1964, and has been run by Fred Loimer Jr. since 1998. The vineyards owned or managed by Loimer total around 80 hectares (200 acres) and are found on a variety of Kamptal's soils: loess, loam, gneiss and gravel. The single-vineyard estate wines are sourced from older vineyards farmed under biodynamic principles since 2006. Since 1999, the wines have been vinified and aged under ideal climatic conditions in a historic vaulted cellar in the vineyards between Langenlois and Zöbing. Annual production amounts to around 600,000 bottles per year.
