Sourced from Midwest Grain Products or MGP in Indiana, Redemption Straight Bourbon breaks from the label's tradition of rye whiskey and high-rye bourbon. This bottling is made from a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley (as opposed to 60% corn and 36% rye in their standard bottling). The whiskey is aged for at least two years in new, charred American oak and bottled at 84 proof. Note: Updated packaging as of November 2016.

Redemption Straight Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: The aroma is tightly bound to the alcohol. Dry aromas of wood, vanilla, toast, and corn are present but with the heat of ethanol in tow.

Palate: The palate delivers what the nose promises but with a heavy wood char finish.

Finish: Lingering.

Distillery Information

Bardstown Barrel Selections, the parent company of Redemption, was founded by bourbon industry veterans Michael Kanbar and Dave Schmier.

“Six years ago we entered the spirits business after almost three decades as a wine company, and we have been very selective about what brands we brought into our portfolio. The addition of Redemption provides a high-quality entry into the most dynamic segment of the spirits business: American Whiskey,” Peter Deutsch, CEO of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, said in a press release. “The premium and ultra-premium segments within the whiskey category remind me a lot of premium wine, with consumers being open to experiment, focused more on quality than slick marketing and interested in learning more about the product itself.”
