Baltimore Spirits Co. has created a finished barrel line called Post Epoch using its Epoch Straight Rye Whiskey as the base. This Liqueur Barrels finish is the first release for 2020 and it uses barrels which once held the distillery's Singularities #1 Liqueur (dubbed "Bort"). That liqueur was made in collaboration with Union Craft Brewing using both fermented and unfermented wort from the brewery's Snow Pants Stout in its production. Available limited to the distillery as of March 2020.
Post Epoch Finished in Liqueur Barrels Straight Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose was moderately aggressive filled with spice, oak and caramel.
Palate: There was a very slight burn if inhaled deeply, but a constant tingling presence.
Finish: A nice surprise was the noticeable presence of malt.
