Nose: Sweet blackberry sauce with a hint of whisky warmth.

Palate: Smooth vanilla balanced with cooked and slightly tart blackberries.

Finish: Creamy vanilla and caramel, reminiscent of blackberry crumble.

Distillery Information

Crown Royal is a Canadian blended whisky, created by Seagram in 1939 to mark the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth as part of the royal tour to North America in the months of May and June. It was only available in Canada until 1964, but is now the top-selling Canadian whisky in the United States and around the world. A dedicated distillery is located at Gimli on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. The site has 46 warehouses holding two million barrels of Crown Royal spread over two hectares (five acres) of land. The extremes in temperature here have an effect on the character of the final whisky. A second site in Ontario closed in 1992.
