Kavalan Distillery, based in Taiwan, is known for its rapid maturation due to the island’s warm climate, which accelerates interaction between spirit and cask. While the distillery is typically associated with unpeated expressions, releases like this incorporate peated malt to add an additional layer of complexity. Maturation in Oloroso sherry casks enhances richness, bringing forward dried fruit, nutty sweetness, and spice. The combination results in a hybrid style that merges smoky and sherried elements while maintaining Kavalan’s signature fruit-forward character.
