The latter is the main brand, named after a plot in the town of Fuenmayor. The Finca La Pica label is more specifically directed at the export market. It is similarly named after an old estate established by the founding family. Though its current company name dates to 2010, the original winery was founded in 1860 by the Pérez Foncea family in Fuenmayor, a little further to the west. The winery began to expand to export markets in the 1950s. Overseas sales now account for 40 percent of the total. The winery boasts stainless steel tanks of different sizes with capacity of 1.5 million liters.
