A rare 9-year-old bourbon from Buffalo Trace’s Experimental Collection, aged in new charred oak barrels made with staves that were air-dried for an extraordinary 36 months rather than the typical seasoning period. Distilled from Buffalo Trace’s low-rye bourbon mash bill, the experiment was designed to explore how extended oak seasoning affects maturation. The result is a dry, wood-forward bourbon with pronounced oak, caramel and a deeper layer of mature barrel character.

Nose: Rich toasted oak, caramel and vanilla with dark fruit, brown sugar, dried herbs and subtle baking spice.
Palate: Dry and oak-forward, with caramel, vanilla and toasted wood followed by dark fruit, cinnamon and gentle spice. Extended stave seasoning brings a distinctive depth and woody character.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering caramel, seasoned oak, vanilla and dry baking spice.
