Detailed Description

A distinguished 45-year-old Islay single malt distilled in 1975 and matured in a refill sherry butt. Decades of maturation have developed an elegant profile of orchard fruits, baked apples, barley sugar, and toffee, complemented by delicate herbal notes and polished oak. Subtle maritime character brings freshness and balance to its mature, fruit-led style. Bottled in a limited release of just 100 bottles.

Bunnahabhain 45 Year Old - Lord Macduff (The Macbeth Act 2 Collection) Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe apples and pears, baked orchard fruit, barley sugar, honey, and toffee, with dried apricot, polished oak, and a gentle herbal note.

Palate: Silky and refined, with baked apples, caramelised fruit, barley sugar, and toffee. Dried fruit, soft citrus, mature oak, and a delicate maritime salinity add depth.

Finish: Long and graceful, with lingering orchard fruit, honeyed malt, gentle oak, subtle herbs, and a faint coastal salinity.

Distillery Information

Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 on the northeastern coast of Islay, overlooking the Sound of Islay. Its remote coastal setting and traditional production methods have helped shape its distinctive identity among Scotland’s island distilleries. Unlike many Islay producers, Bunnahabhain is particularly known for its unpeated single malts, which highlight malt sweetness, fruit, and maritime character rather than dominant smoke. The distillery has experienced changes in ownership and periods of closure throughout its history, but has maintained a strong reputation for characterful, traditionally crafted Scotch whisky.
