Von Payne Black is a 3 year American Blended Whiskey infused with Natural Black Currant crafted to have a unique taste that fills your senses with unexpected pleasure. Slightly tart and subtly sweet, it goes down smooth with the rich flavor of Black Currant and a warm wave of a 90 proof premium blended whiskey.
Black Currant was forbidden to grow in the United States until 2003, as a threat to the logging industry. That’s why most of us haven’t heard of it or even tasted it. The benefits of this tart berry are emerging to the US market as a dense super-fruit high in anti-oxidants and vitamin C. It is the key to Von Payne Black’s unique blend.

A Very Good & Unique Blended Whiskey
"I just have to say from a marketing standpoint, the bottle design catches your attention. That and it's deep red color. It fits in perfectly in the bar scene or your personal bar shelve. The interest it provokes is astonishing, and you don't have to worry. Von Payne can carry its weight in terms of what it is. You don't have to worry in terms of it disappointing. I've yet to see it disappoint my friends and family. The only way this would be off-putting is if you disliked tartness, as this isn't overly sweet. On the nose, it greets you with tart fruity sweetness. The Currant does come through and reminds me of Elderberry. Elderberries have colors in red and black, while Blackcurrants are only available in the red variant. So it causes me to wonder if Elderberry isn't actually present in the blend. Even has a very subtle trace of dried dark cherry. The palate is delightfully sweet & tart. It absolutely showcases the currant. There is a hint of spices and potential rye present as well. This pairs very well with it's 45% ABV content. The finish lingers with spicy, tarty, sweet, an oak finish. Over ice, I've personally found it more enjoyable. It brings the tartness down and tones down the ABV. Just a delightfully sweet or tart, enjoyable whiskey. Lastly, if you're a mixer, I'm certain you can find many creative methods to use this."
