Lagavulin's Distillers Edition bottlings are allowed a finishing period in casks that previously held sweet, sticky Pedro Ximénez Sherry. The result is a magnificent blend of classic Islay salty peat smoke and intense Sherried sweetness. This is the 2001 Distillers Edition, which was bottled at 43% ABV in 2017.

Nose: Rich peat smoke with candied sweetness: honey, glacé cherries, plums and dried apricots.
Palate: Singed herbs, smoky orange peel and seashore bonfires – sea spray, wood smoke and kippers.
Finish: Old bonfires, marmalade and spicy peat.

Lagavulin distillery is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Lagavulin on the island of Islay, Scotland.Lagavulin is one of the three Kildalton Distilleries in the south of Islay and sits comfortably in between Ardbeg and Laphroaig at the "Hollow by the Mill", translated from the Gaelic lag a'mhuilin.
