Wormtub is a blended malt Scotch whisky that shines a light on the glory of the eponymous bit of distilling kit. As the name suggests, a worm tub is a big ol' wooden tub with a long copper coiled tube (the worm) submerged in cold water. Vapour from a still enters tube and condenses into spirit as it touches the tube's cold sides. The resulting spirit is often pretty heavy stuff, with its meaty, almost sulphury (in a good way) notes kept intact. While plenty of distilleries have got rid of their worm tubs in favour of more efficient, easier to maintain condensers, some have remained part of the worm tub faithful because of the character imparted to the spirit - and that character is exactly what Wormtub is all about! Made exclusively with single malts from distilleries still using traditional worm tubs, expect a powerful, full-bodied whisky-based homage to the trusty tub.
