Distillery Information

"Knockdhu Distillery, founded by John Morrison in 1893 in Banffshire, took advantage of local peat, barley, pure water springs, and the nearby railway for its location, opening in 1894 and becoming DCL's first malt distillery. After closures due to depression and war, it was bought by Inver House (now International Beverage Holdings), reopened in 1989, and rebranded its single malt as anCnoc (Gaelic for "the hill") in 1994 to avoid confusion with Knockando, using traditional methods to create a modern-tasting whisky known for its light, distinctive flavor profile, including popular peated expressions."
