Jack Daniel's was founded by Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and has become one of the world's most recognizable American whiskey brands. The distillery is particularly famous for its charcoal mellowing process, known as the Lincoln County Process, which takes place before the whiskey enters the barrel. Jack Daniel's matures its whiskey in new, charred American oak barrels, allowing the spirit to develop its characteristic caramel, vanilla and oak notes. The distillery is now part of Brown-Forman, while production remains rooted in Lynchburg and the traditional methods associated with the brand.
