The Rémy Martin distillery was founded in 1724 by the winegrower Rémy Martin, who created a cognac trading house in southwestern France. The business expanded under his grandson, also named Rémy, and later under Paul-Emile-Rémy Martin, who introduced the centaur logo in 1841.
