Producer Information
Oddero is a leading Piedmontese estate, based in Santa Maria in the La Morra district of Barolo. As well as an envious number of Barolo DOCG labels, the estate produces numerous wines from the wider region. The estate boasts roughly 35 hectares (86 acres) of vineyard – just under half of which are Barolo vineyards planted to Nebbiolo. This includes holdings in some of Barolo's unofficial "cru" vineyards, including Vigna Rionda in Serralunga d'Alba, Mondoca di Bussia Soprana in Monforte d'Alba, Brunate in La Morra, and Villero and Rocche di Castiglione in Castiglione Falletto. These vineyards provide a range of single-vineyard Barolo wines, as well as grapes for a standard Barolo DOCG wine. Grapes are vinified in either stainless steel or oak, and aged in the 18th Century cellars in Slavonian, Austrian and French oak barrels. As well as the Barolo wines, the Oddero range includes the Barbaresco Gallina, a Dolcetto d'Alba, a Barbera d'Alba Superiore and a Barbera d'Asti Superiore, as well as several red and white wines under the Langhe designation. A Moscato d'Asti and a Grappa di Moscato d'Asti complete the range. Oddero has owned the estate and vineyards since the late 18th Century. The first bottled wines were produced in 1878.
