A remarkable vintage Longmorn distilled in 1972 and matured for 31 years in a sherry cask before being bottled by Blackadder in 2003. The long maturation has produced a rich, elegant Speyside malt with layers of ripe tropical fruit, figs, soft pastry and mature oak. Silky and naturally expressive, it offers the depth and complexity expected from a well-aged single-cask whisky.

Nose: Banana cream, cookie dough and ripe melon with figs, soft herbs, vanilla and gentle sherry sweetness.

Palate: Silky and sweet, with melon, ripe fruit, soft vanilla and rich malt complemented by dried figs, gentle oak and subtle spice.

Finish: Long and delicate, with papaya, ripe fruit, soft oak and lingering vanilla sweetness.

Distillery Information

Longmorn Distillery was founded in Speyside in 1893 and has long been respected for producing rich, characterful malt that has traditionally played an important role in major Scotch blends. The distillery is now part of Chivas Brothers and remains an important source of single malt for Pernod Ricard. Blackadder International, founded in 1995 by whisky writers Robin Tucek and John Lamond, became known for its Raw Cask series, which preserves natural oils and cask sediment by avoiding chill filtration. This Longmorn was distilled in April 1972, matured in sherry cask #1101 and bottled in September 2003 as one of 388 bottles.
