Francois Pinault, owner of Château Latour, bought the vineyards but not the winery.Following Engel's death in May 2005, the 2005 vintage of Domaine René Engel was sold in bulk. After the acquisition of the vineyards, Domaine D'Eugénie operated in an interim space at Domaine Lupé-Cholet in Nuits-Saint-Georges for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 vintages.In the interim, D'Eugénie established its own winery back in Vosne-Romanée, at the former Clos Frantin vineyard and buildings. These formerly belonged to Beaune-based wine estate Albert Bichot.
