      Detailed Description

A wine with a deep, concentrated colour. The bouquet is equally delightful, with its intense range of aromas dominated by ripe fruit with floral and spicy overtones. This wine is charmingly balanced and generous on the palate with perfectly smooth tannins. The finish is long and aromatic.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: The wine, a final blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, produced just over 4,000 cases, which is almost half the winery's normal production. Their brilliant duo of consultants was Jean-Luc Thunevin and Michel Rolland-s assistant Jean-Philippe Fort. Natural alcohol comes in at 13.5% and the wine is soft, round, opulent and elegant with sweet blackcurrant and black raspberry fruit, a hint of cherries, dusty, loamy soil undertones, tobacco leaf, licorice and a touch of background oak. It is medium-bodied, very attractive and can be drunk early on or cellared for 7-10 years. This is, once again, a sleeper of the vintage.
        • James Suckling: Blueberry, blackberry and wet earth. Some dried flowers. Full to medium body, firm and chewy tannins yet polished and fresh. Refined polish to this.

The property was promoted to the rank of Grand Cru ClassĂ© in 2006, retaining it in 2012. The vineyards extend for 23.5hectares (58 acres) across Saint-Émilion and are planted on soils of clay and limestone. Merlot dominates here and is planted alongside smaller plots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The estate has the EngagĂ© RSE certification for social responsibility. This addresses energy and water consumption, waste sorting and effluent, recycling, cultivation, pest management and employee health and safety. No chemical weedkillers or insecticides are used. Vines are instead tilled mechanically, and cover crops are used to reduce erosion and avoid soil compaction.
