Champagne Fluteau, established in 1935 by grower Émile Hérard and his son-in-law Georges Fluteau, stands as one of the oldest, pioneering family-owned estates in the Côte des Bar region within southern Champagne's Aube department. Nestled along the banks of the River Seine in Gyé-sur-Seine, the estate manages 9 hectares of vines meticulously divided into 7 distinct parcels. Moving away from its history as a merchant house, the domaine famously shifted entirely to a récoltant-manipulant (grower-producer) status in 1996 under third-generation vintner Thierry Fluteau and his American-born wife, Jennifer. Today, the winery is spearheaded by the fourth generation, with enologist Jérémy Fluteau managing the cellar alongside his sister Adeline and wife Mathilde, earning official High Environmental Value (HVE) certification for their deeply sustainable vineyard practices. Benefiting from the region’s distinct kimmeridgian limestone and clay soils, Champagne Fluteau focuses heavily on estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, crafting beautifully soft, multi-dimensional, and highly acclaimed cuvées—such as their rich Blanc de Noirs and the harmonious Cuvée Symbiose—that favor rich red fruit weight, complex brioche undertones, and vibrant, refreshing acidity.
