Producer Information
Hamel Family Wines is an ultra-premium, multi-generational estate in Sonoma Valley, California, founded in 2006 by George Hamel Jr. (a prominent San Francisco investment executive) and his wife Pamela, and now steered alongside their sons, George III and Director of Winegrowing John Hamel II. Nestled at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, the producer manages a spectacular, architecturally striking 124-acre property alongside three other meticulously farmed vineyards spanning the Sonoma Valley and Moon Mountain District AVAs. Operating with a profound commitment to environmental stewardship, the estate farms three of California's few certified biodynamic and organic vineyards, relying on total dry-farming. In collaboration with legendary terroir specialist Pedro Parra and elite consulting winemaker Martha McClellan, John Hamel uses a non-interventionist approach—fermenting in concrete eggs and large oak casks—to create highly focused, mineral-driven, and expressive estate Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, and volcanic mountain Cabernet Sauvignons.
