      Detailed Description

The 2016 Tenuta Buon Tempo Brunello di Montalcino is a structured, elegant red wine from the acclaimed southern zone of Montalcino, Italy.

      Producer Information

Tenuta Buon Tempo is a wine estate in the Brunello di Montalcino region of Tuscany. Situated in southern Montalcino, Tenuta Buon Tempo dedicates the majority of its winemaking to the production of Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino, along with a single Brunello di Montalcino Riserva in the best vintage years. The estate is planted to 12 hectares (30 acres) of Sangiovese vineyards, five (12 acres) of which are devoted solely to the production of Brunello di Montalcino. The soil types found in these vineyards consist of marl and sandstone interspersed with a large proportion of stone. These slopes are southeast-facing and are situated at altitudes of approximately 350m (1148ft) above sea level. In the cellar, Tenuta Buon Tempo ferments its grapes with native yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for between seven to 10 days. After fermentation, maceration takes place over a minimum of 10 days for the Rosso di Montalcino and a maximum of 25 days for the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. The wines are then matured in a combination of large format French oak barrels, stainless steel vats and Slavonian oak casks of 3500-liter capacity. They are then bottle-aging prior to release. The estate's flagship Brunello di Montalcino is aged in 40-50 percent new French oak barrels for 24 months, followed by 18-24 months in Slavonian oak. In addition to its flagship Brunello and Brunello Riserva wines, Tenuta Buon Tempo also produces a third Brunello di Montalcino under the name of Alta.
