        Producer Information

Terre degli Svevi Re Manfredi is a wine producer based in the foothills of Mount Vulture in the Basilicata wine region of southern Italy. The estate was founded in 1998 and encompasses 120 hectares (297 acres) of vineyards planted to Aglianico, Müller Thurgau and Gewürztraminer. Aglianico reigns in the vineyards, with approximately 40 hectares (99 acres) dedicated to its cultivation in the volcanic soils of the commune of Venosa. The remaining 20ha (49 acres) planted here are dedicated to white grape varieties including Müller Thurgau and Gewürztraminer. Re Manfredi also owns a 6ha (15 acre) vineyard site, Serpara, in the commune of Maschito, which translates as the "place of the serpents". The vineyard is situated on volcanic slopes 550 meters (1805ft) above sea level and is the source of the estate's single-vineyard Aglianico del Vulture wine, Serpara. Re Manfredi includes two Aglianico del Vulture wines in its portfolio: Serpara and Re Manfredi. Serpara is the cru of this range, while Re Manfredi is the estate's flagship. Both wines are vinified with natural yeasts and age in French Allier oak barriques for 18-24 months, in the case of Separa, and 10-12 months for Re Manfredi.
