Red Wine: 2017 | Catena Adrianna Vineyard | River Stones Malbec
This wine takes its name from a small parcel of the revered Adrianna Vineyard that is covered with oval white stones that came from an ancient riverbed. The stones provide excellent drainage and also moderate the temperature fluctuations experienced at such high altitude, absorbing heat during the day to be radiated back out during the cooler nights and acting like ice cubes after a particularly cold night.

Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Founded in 1902, Bodega Catena Zapata is perhaps the most famous winery in Argentina and has been at the forefront of resurrecting the Malbec grape variety whilst establishing itself as one of the pre-eminent fine wine producers in the country. An incredibly ageworthy wine, this should drink beautifully up to and beyond 2030.
Producer Information
Bodega Catena Zapata is one of the foremost wine estates in Mendoza, Argentina. Founded in 1902 and still in family hands, it is particularly known for its rich, full-bodied red wines produced from Malbec. The estate is made up of six vineyards in the Luján de Cuyo, Tupungato and San Carlos sub-regions of Mendoza, at altitudes ranging from 3000 to 4750 feet (920 to 1450 meters) above sea level. The winery, with its striking Mayan-influenced pyramid shape, is located in Agrelo, in Luján de Cuyo.Catena make a wide range of wines under several different labels. The top tier is the Catena Zapata line, which includes four single vineyard wines from two different vineyards, Nicasia and Arianna, and the Malbec Argentino, which is produced from grapes selected from the best rows of each. The DV Catena and Saint Felicien lines are more for everyday drinking, and both feature varietal wines made from Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
