      • Dunnuck: A big beast of a wine, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Slope has loads of blackcurrant and blackberry-styled fruits as well as toasted spice, graphite, licorice, and crushed stone-like aromas and flavors. Structured, full-bodied, and tannic, it has masses of baby fat that will take at least 7-8 years to melt away, yet it's one satisfying mouthful of a Cabernet today.

      Producer Information

Hidden Ridge Vineyard (also known as Immortal Estate) is a premium Sonoma County wine producer, known for its mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the estate's high-elevation vineyard. The estate lies within one of Sonoma County's newest AVAs, Fountaingrove District, which covers land between Mount Hood and Diamond Mountain in the western Mayacamas mountains. The 22 hectare (55 acre) vineyard is located on mountainous slopes altitudes ranging from 900-1700ft (270 to 520m) above sea level. The soils are composed of volcanic basalt and sandy loam, and the vineyard is planted almost entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon with single blocks of Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. Hidden Ridge was purchased in 1991 by Casidy Ward and Lynn Hofacket, who planned to build a country estate on the land. However, the remote location and rugged surrounds meant that it was better suited to grape growing, and since 2001, Hidden Ridge Vineyard has been producing Cabernet Sauvignon. The portfolio is a duo of Cabernet Sauvignon wines, the 55% Slope Cabernet Sauvignon and the flagship Impassable Mountain Reserve. Today, the brand is produced under the Immortal Estate label.
