      Producer Information

Bodegas Portia opened in 2010 and is the architectural work of Sir Norman Foster. It’s a spectacular display of modern design, winemaking function and artistic detail, located in the heart of Ribera del Duero. The Martinez family purchased nearly 400 acres in the late 1990s, focused on the high-quality Tempranillo possibilities in the Roa, Gumiel de Izán, Villanueva, and Gumiel de Mercado regions. Eastern and southern facing vineyards were planted, chiefly with Tempranillo, with an average density of 1,200 vines per acre. The continental climate experiences hot temperatures during the dry summer and freezing, bitter winters. This extreme variation allows the grapes to develop intense aromas and flavors. The resulting wines offer lifted aromatics, power and brightness.
