      Detailed Description

Full yellow with fascinating golden and greenish highlights. The nose is elegant, intense and captivating. The varietal expression of citrus, tomato leaves and almond is enriched by fruit notes of gooseberry, apricot, kiwi, yellow peach, and by flower aromas of lemon blossom, jasmine, antique rose, and citrus aromas of bergamot and citron peel. Almost viscous aromatic perception in its intensity and structure. The palate is embracing, complex and lively. Soft attack and a growing freshness. Notes of ripe Golden apple, dried fruit and vanilla fuse together with balsamic hints of sage and thyme. Pleasant tannins and good persistence with a typical slightly bitter note in the finish and citrus aftertaste.

      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The Livio Felluga 2018 Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano (closed with a screwcap) is a charming white wine with an accessible and easy style but with much of the creamy richness and texture that is characteristic of this excellent grape variety. The bouquet produces pear, apple and ripe peach. There are subtle aromas of toasted almond, saffron and a touch of crushed rock or oyster shell. This lovely white would pair with a Sicilian pasta made with cubed swordfish, fried eggplant and fresh mint.
      • James Suckling: Aromas of spiced pear, lime, dried pineapple and some beeswax. It’s medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity. Concentrated, textured and focused. Delicious now.

Livio Felluga is an Italian estate nestled in Friuli-Venezia Giulia at the northern tip of the the Adriatic Sea. The estate takes its name from its founder, Livio Felluga, who came to the region in the 1930s. Today, it is famous for its blended white wines made from the region's most planted white varieties, including Friulano and Sauvignon Blanc. Livio Felluga's family has a winemaking history that goes back six generations to Isola d'Istria in Slovenia. He purchased his first few hectares of vineyard in Rosazzo in the 1950s and immediately set to work restoring and replanting the old vineyards. Livio Felluga subsequently acquired a wine cellar in Brazzano to allow for the expansion of the estate's wine production. Today the estate stretches over more than 187 hectares (462 acres) of vines in Collio Goriziano and Colli Orientali del Friuli. The Livio Felluga estate also encompasses the cellars and vineyards of the historic Abbazia di Rosazzo (Abbey of Rosazzo), where it creates its distinctive white wine blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia and Ribolla Gialla – the Abbazia di Rosazzo. Alongside the Abbazia di Rosazzo, Livio Felluga's white wine portfolio includes a number of internationally recognized varietal wines such as Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio, as well as several notable regional grape varieties from Picolit to Friulano. These local white grape varieties are also present in the estate's carefully crafted selection of blended white wines. While the majority of Livio Felluga's wines are white, the estate is devoted to creating a select collection of red wines, such as its Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, varietal Merlot and a Pignolo blend predominantly sourced from the estate's Sossò vineyard.
