Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Meursault "Les Grands Charrons" 2018 by Pierre Boisson reveals a magnificent brilliant and crystalline yellow color . The nose of this white Burgundy wine gives off aromas of mineral aromas which then give way to delicate aromas of lily and lemon. We find in the mouth a similarity to the nose, with a nice tension that gives us a finish with aromas of ripe nectarines enhanced by a saline frame.
Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: A lovely wine, the 2018 Meursault Les Grands Charrons opens in the glass with notes of pear, peach and apple blossom, framed by delicate hints of wheat toast and praline. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and precise, it's built around lively acids and fine structuring dry extract. This may not be the most long-lived rendition of this cuvée, but it's among the most immediately charming.
- John Gilman: The 2018 Grands Charrons from Pierre Boisson is a beautiful example of the vintage. The bouquet is pure, precise and very refined, offering up scents of apple, passion fruit, hazelnut, lime blossoms, just a hint of iodine, chalky minerality, citrus zest and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and youthfully structured, with an excellent core, lovely mineral drive and cut, very good acids and a long, vibrant, focused and nascently complex finish. This is outstanding Meursault in the making. It is approachable today, but really deserves at least two or three years’ worth of bottle age to allow more of its secondary layers of complexity to emerge. Fine, fine juice.
Producer Information
Pierre Boisson is the son of the famous Bernard Boisson (Domaine Boisson-Vadot). With his sister Anne, they gradually took over the family estate. Both also produce wines under their own names. Whether it is for the Boisson-Vadot or Pierre Boisson estates in question here, the whites and reds are absolutely remarkable. Located in Meursault, the Pierre Boisson estate covers 3.5 hectares. The vines are worked "in the old fashioned way", without chemical fertilizers and with plowing of the soil. The aging is long and with very few new barrels, stirring is carried out gently and the wines are not filtered. Pierre Boisson opts for very long aging in aged barrels so as not to mark the wine. The Meursaults, deep and cut for the guards thus stand out from the rest of the production. Prices that have remained reasonable make it one of the very best addresses on the Côte de Beaune.
