Carlos channelled his love for nature into the study of viticulture at the age of 16. After years of study in his native Portugal and the world famous regions of France, Spain, Australia and the US, he returned home and began working with the iconic Portuguese wine superstar Dirk Niepoort. He spent a few years as Dirks right hand man before venturing out to begin his own project in 2018 and thus Vinhos Imperfeitos was born! Native to the Dao region there are few who know the full potential this unique terroir has to offer quite like Carlos. This wine is composed of grapes from different vineyards, almost all of them centenarians, planted in different soils, climates, altitudes. Composed of typical varieties of Dão, such as the Esgana cão, Rabo de ovelha, Encruzado, Malvasia fina, Douradinha, Barcelo, Branda, amongst others. Initially laden with mineral aromas, quickly followed by smoke and maritime notes. In the mouth it is layered with stone fruit and instantly explosive, intense, with a lot of character and due to its balanced natural acidity, it shows a harmonious, fine and complex wine. Its end is endless, leaving a salty sensation allied to gunpowder notes.
