Zialena Winery, rooted in over a century of Sonoma County agricultural heritage, is an estate-driven boutique winery nestled near Geyserville in the heart of the Alexander Valley AVA. The family's viticultural legacy began in 1897 when Italian immigrant Giuseppe Mazzoni arrived in the valley, eventually producing regional jug wine during Prohibition inside a historic barn that remains a local landmark. After decades spent primarily as premier grape growers selling fruit to elite Napa and Sonoma labels, fourth-generation brother-and-sister team Mark and Lisa Mazzoni revived the family's winemaking tradition by launching the Zialena label in 2012—naming it in loving memory of their great-Aunt ("Zia") Lena, who was famous for her open-door hospitality. Sourcing entirely from their 120-acre estate, the winery is uniquely distinguished by its custom-built facility centered around ten massive, open-top concrete fermentation tanks. This design choice allows winemaker Mark Mazzoni to craft deeply layered, low-intervention, and unfiltered expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon and their signature Mazzoni clone Zinfandel that beautifully bridge Old World structural elegance with vibrant New World fruit.
