      Detailed Description

A balanced and smooth wine delivering rich aromas of dark cherries complemented by delicate hints of spice and herbal notes of thyme and rosemary.

        Producer Information

Bideona (buen camino) was created to contribute to a new generation of Rioja wines, more expressive of their origin than of their production method. We live in a crucial moment in Rioja. The region is finally beginning to articulate its diversity and offer not only excellent style wines, but also great terroir wines. At Bideona, we want to contribute decisively to this. Bodega Bideona culminates more than a decade of efforts by a unique and eclectic group of wine veterans. We aspire to produce wines that are benchmarks for Rioja Alavesa as one of the great terroirs in the world, in addition to contributing to the economic and environmental sustainability of our landscapes and ecosystems. They cultivate more than 300 plots of extraordinary vineyards on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, in some of the most enigmatic towns in Rioja Alavesa: Villabuena de Álava, Samaniego, Laguardia, Leza, Baños de Ebro, Navaridas, Lanciego and Elciego. The average age of our vineyards is around 50 years, with many planted in the 20s, 30s and 40s of the 20th century and their average size is less than half a hectare. Currently, a third of the vineyards are owned by the winery or its partners, another third by the winery’s historical winegrowers who acquired it in 2018, and the last third have recently been incorporated in towns where they did not have a presence. They manage each parcel independently according to its quality potential, regardless of its owner.
