The winery has stood here since Martha and Daniel Gantenbein took over the running of the estate from Martha’s family in 1981. The winery began producing local wine the following year and today the vineyards are planted with five hectares (12 acres) of Pinot Noir, one hectare (2.5 acres) of Chardonnay and 0.2 hectares (0.5 acres) of Riesling. Since establishing the winery in 1982, the Gantenbeins have strived to improve their winemaking processes and in 1991, for example, began experimenting with German oak barrels.
