      Detailed Description

The 2019 Watkins Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, generous, and award-winning South Australian red wine that balances deep dark fruit flavors with savory, complex spices.

      Producer Information

Watkins Wine, launched under its current label in 2019 but backed by nearly three decades of South Australian viticultural heritage, is a dynamic, family-run winery operating out of Chandlers Hill in the Adelaide Hills. The family's roots in the industry trace back to 1997 when parents David and Ros Watkins planted their first vineyard, initially establishing a major presence in premium bulk winemaking through Fleurieu Vintners. The brand transformed into a world-class estate portfolio when the new generation—siblings Ben, Sam, and Jo Watkins—stepped into senior management and harnessed their combined skills in finance, marketing, and winemaking. Managing roughly 145 hectares of estate vines that span the cool, high-altitude slopes of the Adelaide Hills and the historic loamy flats of Langhorne Creek, the vineyards benefit heavily from cooling Southern Ocean sea breezes that slow down summer ripening. Guided by head winemaker Sam Watkins—whose international career includes vintages in Napa and the Douro Valley—the winery champions sustainable practices under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia and specializes in crafting highly approachable, juicy, and fruit-driven expressions of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and alternative varietals like Sangiovese.
