Producer Information
Since 1860, the Coffinet estate, located in the heart of the town of Chassagne-Montrachet, has been passed down through the generations. In the 1980s, Laura Coffinet and her sister each inherited half of the estate. She will join forces with Philippe Duvernay, her husband, to found the Coffinet-Duvernay estate. Present on magnificent plots of Chassagne premier crus, they strive with talent to transcribe the uniqueness of each terroir. Their watchword is to spend as much time as possible in the vineyard, where the wine is made. The vinification is therefore the least interventionist possible in order to let the juice evolve in the direction they wish to take. As tradition dictates, they let the malolactic fermentation (optional for the whites) start in order to bring a richness and opulence that we like to find so much in these great chardonnays. The duration of aging depends on the cuvées but the addition of new wood is never excessive. The result is a beautiful generosity and a perfectly balanced mouth.
