      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: I have scribbles on seven different components of the 2020 Cote Rotie in my notebook, and that is just a fraction of what lies resting in the deep Jamet cellar. To generalize and predict what wizardry Jean-Paul Jamet will conjure out of bottle is a bit of a fool's errand, but overall, I found the 2020 samples to show ripe, dark-fruit flavors balanced by graceful aromatics. Generally, the wines are medium to full-bodied, with supple, silky tannins and good freshness.
      • Jeb Dunnuck: The 2020 Côte Rôtie should be brilliant, and I was able to taste multiple barrels. This vintage was not destemmed and Jean-Paul isn’t dogmatic with stems, judging each vintage on its own and adjusting the amount of stems accordingly. The 2020 shows a ripe yet pure style across the board, with most samples being medium to full-bodied and showing plenty of oomph and structure. The stems stand out in a few of the samples, and the wines reminded me slightly of 2010. This is a powerful, structured vintage at Jamet, and readers will love to have these in their cellars.

      Producer Information

Domaine Jamet is a well-regarded wine producer based in Ampuis, in the winemaking heart of the northern Rhône, and best-known for its classical Cote Rotie wines. The estate comprises approximately seven hectares (17 acres) of vines planted in a number of small plots in the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde subregions of the Côte Rotie. Plantings are nearly all Syrah, with small amounts of Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne. The domaine was founded by Joseph Jamet, who in 1950 acquired a tiny plot of land and began selling fruit to négociants. Domaine Jamet began bottling its own wines in 1976 and, following Joseph's retirement, his sons Jean-Luc and Jean-Paul took over the family business. The brothers parted ways in 2013 and today the domaine is managed by husband and wife Jean-Paul and Corinne Jamet, along with their son, Loïc, who joined in 2015. This date also coincided with the domaine's purchase of 20 hectares (50 acres) of vineyards in nearby Condrieu. Domaine Jamet's portfolio comprises a range of wines from the Côte-Rôtie, Côtes du Rhône and Condrieu, with annual production totaling around 50,000 bottles. Jamet also makes a single 100-percent Syrah IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, a set of red and white expressions of Côtes du Rhône and a 100-percent Viognier Condrieu wine.
