Pestoni Family Estate Winery, rooted in five generations of Napa Valley winemaking tradition, traces its heritage back to 1892 when Swiss-Italian immigrant Albino Pestoni arrived in California and established his first 20-acre vineyard. After a lengthy period spent primarily as highly respected grape growers—managing top-tier acreage and even producing bootleg brandy during Prohibition—the family fully transitioned into commercial vintners in 1994 by purchasing a small boutique winery just north of Rutherford off Highway 29. Known for decades as Rutherford Grove Winery before being renamed in 2017 to honor their 125th anniversary, the estate remains entirely family-owned and operates about 40 to 60 acres of sustainably and regeneratively farmed vines. Today, under the guidance of general manager Greg Pestoni and acclaimed consulting winemaker Aaron Pott, the estate specializes in small-production, single-vineyard expressions; their portfolio features elegant Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, and robust Bordeaux reds, most notably their flagship Lone Acre Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Rutherford floor and deep, structured Three Tears Vineyard blocks grown on the volcanic slopes of Howell Mountain.
