      Detailed Description

The 2021 Sierra Ibérica from Bodegas Reyes is a rich, beautifully structured Spanish red made from 100% Tempranillo grapes grown in the acclaimed Ribera del Duero region.

      Producer Information

Bodegas Reyes (frequently recognized as Bodegas Teófilo Reyes), founded in 1994 in Peñafiel, stands as a cornerstone of the modern Ribera del Duero DO in Castilla y León, Spain. The estate was established by legendary enologist Teófilo Reyes alongside his sons Juan José and Luis, culminating his 50-plus years of local winemaking influence. Often called the "living memory" of Ribera del Duero, Don Teófilo previously helped shape the region's official Denomination of Origin and co-founded its early influential wine cooperatives. At the age of 74, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by bottling under his own name; the estate's very first commercial release, the Teófilo Reyes Crianza 1994, made history as the first Spanish wine ever named to Wine Spectator’s top ten wines of the world. Following Teófilo’s passing in 2016, the winery has coupled the continuing legacy of his sons with the viticultural support of Rioja's respected Zuazo Gastón family. Today, spanning roughly 40 to 60 hectares of estate vines planted on extreme, chalky limestone slopes reaching up to 925 meters in altitude, the producer specializes in highly expressive, low-yielding Tempranillo (Tinto Fino). Their highly respected portfolio—including the vibrant Tamiz Roble and the flagship wood-aged Crianza and Reserva bottlings—is celebrated globally for balancing dense dark cherry fruit, rich oak nuances, and a velvety structure with great cellaring potential.
