Producer Information
Kelley Fox Wines is an independent, highly revered artisan winery based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, founded in 2007 by winemaker Kelley Fox alongside her father, Gerson "Gus" Stearns. A former biochemist deeply influenced by Oregon wine pioneer David Lett of The Eyrie Vineyards, Fox brings a meditative, deeply intuitive philosophy to her boutique operation, which maintains a highly sought-after but limited annual production of roughly 3,000 to 5,000 cases. Rather than owning a central estate, she relies on extensive personal relationships to source fruit from a "who's who" of historic, old-vine landmarks across the region—most notably the volcanic Jory soils of the iconic Maresh Vineyard in the Dundee Hills and the Demeter-certified biodynamic Momtazi Vineyard in McMinnville, alongside Freedom Hill, Weber, and Durant. In the cellar, Fox's commitment to transparent, unadorned terroir expression manifests as a strictly minimalist, non-interventionist approach: she employs spontaneous fermentation using 100% indigenous wild yeasts, integrates a high percentage of whole-cluster fruit, and has utilized exclusively neutral French oak barrels with zero new oak since 2012 to avoid masking the fruit. This meticulous craftsmanship results in extraordinarily pure, ethereal, and lithe Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that elegantly balance translucent textures, lively acidity, and a deep emotional resonance reflective of their individual parcels.
