Producer Information
Ernest Vineyards, founded in 2012 by husband-and-wife duo Erin Brooks and Todd Gottula, is an independent boutique winery acclaimed for its pursuit of cool-climate, maritime-influenced wines from California’s rugged West Sonoma Coast. Named in honor of Gottula’s pioneering grandfather, the estate is dedicated to small-lot, site-specific Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that value restraint, bright natural acidity, and low-intervention winemaking. Guided by winemaker Joseph Ryan since 2018, Ernest Vineyards manages 35 acres of vineyards in the extreme, fog-cloaked Freestone-Occidental region. The farming operates under strict organic and regenerative practices, utilizing 100% sustainable dry-farming and electric field equipment to preserve the land. Beyond their classical Burgundy-style flagships, the estate champions innovative and alternative varietals through their experimental Edaphos label, exploring unconventional grapes like Picpoul and Petite Arvine.
