Producer Information
Domaine Gérard Peirazeau et Fils is a rising-star, microscopic family wine estate based in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis within Burgundy's prestigious Côte de Nuits, launched into commercial prominence when third-generation vigneron Laurent Peirazeau took over the torch in 2019. Managing a tiny 3.65-hectare vineyard mosaic alongside his partner Sophie Charlopin—daughter of the legendary Philippe Charlopin, a disciple of Henri Jayer—the couple is blessed with prestigious parcels that originated from the 1974 division of the historic Jules Groffier estate (sharing lineage directly with Domaine Robert Groffier). Their prized holdings span 13 distinct appellations across three premier winegrowing villages—Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Gevrey-Chambertin—and include five elite Grand Crus: Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Charmes-Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, and Bonnes-Mares. In the cellar, Laurent enforces a highly meticulous, low-intervention philosophy characterized by 100% destemmed fruit, a 4-day cold maceration, and spontaneous fermentations, with the wines undergoing a 14-month maturation in barrels selected from three distinct coopers (including Chassin) with a measured one-third new oak. The resulting highly allocated portfolio, which ranges from their delicate Pinot Noirs to a rare Morey-Saint-Denis village white, is celebrated for its purity, savory precision, and fine-grained texture, representing an extraordinary insider opportunity for collectors while prices remain grounded compared to better-known Burgundy elites.
