Martha Stoumen Wines is a prominent independent, low-intervention winery founded in 2014 by winemaker Martha Stoumen in Northern California, celebrated for its dedication to natural winemaking, historical California vineyards, and climate-resilient Mediterranean grape varieties. Driven by a philosophy that prioritizes soil health and vine longevity over high yields, the brand sources its fruit from organic and self-managed dry-farmed vineyards across Mendocino, Contra Costa, and Suisun Valley, ensuring no synthetic chemicals or irrigation are used. In the cellar, based out of a shared facility in Sebastopol, winemaking follows traditional, patient methodologies: fermentations rely entirely on native yeasts and bacteria, no adjuncts or nutrient additions are introduced, and the wines are never filtered or fined, resulting in naturally vegan products with only minimal sulfur added at bottling when necessary. Across an annual production of roughly 8,000 cases, the portfolio balances highly drinkable, fresh, and experimental blends—such as the flagship Post-Flirtation red and white lines—with deeply nuanced, single-varietal expressions of Nero d'Avola, Carignan, Zinfandel, and Vermentino, capturing a vibrant, transparent snapshot of California terroir.
