Whisky Sponge and the gang at Decadent Drinks mark the end of their magnificent collaborative series with this, the 100th and final instalment. The team wanted something special to mark the occasion, a whisky that displayed excellent quality, that was collaborative, and that they'd had a role in making, one which was modern in the best sense, and that looked to the future. This single malt from Ardnamurchan ticks all the boxes! It's a combo of 2016 and 2017 vintage casks, cooked up by Angus (aka Whisky Sponge) in collaboration with the folks at Ardnamurchan. The single malt includes a mix of first and second-fill peated and unpeated sherry octaves, married for over six months in a refill sherry butt, and bottled up at seven years old.

Distillery Information

The Ardnamurchan Distillery, on Scotland’s west coast, is a standout in the whisky world. It uses both old crafting methods and new, sustainable practices. Located on the remote Ardnamurchan Peninsula, it makes single malt Scotch whisky. This whisky captures the feel of its wild and charming surroundings. Adelphi Distillery Ltd. runs Ardnamurchan. They commit to being eco-friendly. It's one of the few distilleries using local, sustainable resources. They get power from a hydroelectric generator, using water from a nearby river. Biomass boilers, fed with local woodchip, make heat. These methods mix quality whisky making with being sustainable. They cut the carbon footprint and help the local environment. Ardnamurchan’s whisky-making uses old methods. They focus on developing flavour and maturing the whisky. They use local resources, maturing the whisky in the coastal air. This might add complexity to the spirit. The sea air might give the ageing whisky a unique sea character. This would reflect where it's made.
