Nose: Orange zest and citrus peel with waxy sweetness, honey, gentle spice and a subtle savoury depth.

Palate: Rich and syrupy, with cane sugar, red and dark berries, toffee and warm Marsala sweetness, balanced by soft oak and a touch of char.

Finish: Long and gently warming, with lingering berry sweetness, toffee, cracked pepper, citrus and polished oak.

Distillery Information

Balblair Distillery was founded in 1790 by John Ross at Edderton in the Northern Highlands, overlooking the Dornoch Firth. The distillery remained connected to the Ross family for much of the 19th century before being rebuilt in 1894 closer to the railway. Balblair is known for producing a refined, fruit-forward Highland single malt and has traditionally emphasized careful maturation and distinctive cask influence. The distillery is now owned by Inver House Distillers, which acquired Balblair in 1996.
