A classic Czech herbal liqueur produced in Karlovy Vary from a closely guarded recipe dating back to 1807. A blend of approximately 20 herbs and spices creates Becherovka’s distinctive bittersweet character, with prominent clove, cinnamon and bitter orange notes. The result is an aromatic, warming liqueur with a characteristic golden colour.

Nose: Aromatic herbs and warm spices lead with clove, cinnamon and bitter orange. Subtle sweetness and delicate floral notes add depth beneath the herbal character.

Palate: Distinctly bittersweet, with prominent cinnamon and clove followed by herbal spice and bitter orange. A touch of sugar rounds the palate while the concentrated botanicals provide warmth and complexity.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering herbal bitterness, orange peel, cinnamon and clove. The finish gradually softens into a gentle, sweet spice character.

Becherovka has been produced continuously in Karlovy Vary since 1807, making it one of the Czech Republic’s oldest continuously produced alcoholic brands. The original recipe was developed by Josef Vitus Becher from a formula received in 1805 and refined over nearly two years. The secret recipe combines approximately 20 herbs and spices sourced from around the world, and production remains centered in Karlovy Vary.
