Benrinnes North Star Single Cask 10 Year Old · 2015 Vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich sultanas and dark dried fruit, followed by honeyed toffee, caramel and polished oak. The refill sherry cask contributes a gentle darker sweetness while allowing Benrinnes' robust malty character to remain prominent.
Palate: Full-bodied, weighty and oily, with caramel malt, dark fruit and honeyed toffee. Cinnamon and warming spice develop alongside chocolate and restrained sherry notes, creating a rich and concentrated Speyside profile.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering dried fruit, cinnamon, caramel and polished oak. The finish gradually becomes drier and more spicy, with the whisky's natural weight remaining evident.
Distillery Information
Benrinnes was first established in 1826 by Peter MacKenzie at Whitehouse Farm near Aberlour, on the lower slopes of Ben Rinnes. The original distillery was destroyed by flooding in 1829, with a new site later developed nearby. After early ownership changes, David Edward took over in 1864, and the distillery was sold to John Dewar & Sons in 1922 before becoming part of DCL three years later. It is now owned by Diageo.
