A robust and characterful 14-year-old Benrinnes independently bottled by Hunter Laing for its respected Old Malt Cask collection. Distilled in 2010, the whisky spent 14 years maturing before being drawn from single wine cask #21860 and bottled at 50% ABV. Benrinnes' naturally weighty and full-bodied spirit works particularly well with the richer influence of wine cask maturation, creating a profile of dark berries, cocoa and honeycomb alongside muscovado sugar and vinous oak. With just 269 bottles produced, this release offers a darker, more structured interpretation of the distillery's rich Speyside character.

Nose: Cocoa and dark red berries, followed by vinous oak and honeycomb. Rich fruit sweetness gradually develops alongside subtle malt and deeper cask-driven notes.

Palate: Full-bodied and richly textured, with dark muscovado sugar, cacao and marzipan. The wine cask adds dark-fruit character and structure while Benrinnes' naturally weighty spirit provides depth and substance.

Finish: Sweet and lingering, with cakey baking spices and stewed berries remaining alongside gentle cocoa and drying oak.

Distillery Information

Benrinnes was first established in 1826 by Peter MacKenzie at Whitehouse Farm near Aberlour, on the lower slopes of Ben Rinnes. The original distillery was destroyed by flooding in 1829, with a new site later developed nearby. After early ownership changes, David Edward took over in 1864, and the distillery was sold to John Dewar & Sons in 1922 before becoming part of DCL three years later. It is now owned by Diageo.
